Using d<span class=\"s1\">ata from Kentucky Crash Analysis Wizard (<span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/crashinformationky.org\/\">crashinformationky.org<\/a>), we harvested collisions for Fayette County from January 2004 until April 8, 2016, the entire dataset at that point in time.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The website of collision maps is available here:\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/boydx.github.io\/collisions\/\">http:\/\/boydx.github.io\/collisions\/<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0and the bike map is\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/boydx.github.io\/collisions\/bikes\">http:\/\/boydx.github.io\/collisions\/bikes<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s2\">Along mapping fatalities,\u00c2\u00a0injuries, and hit and run cases, we incorporated the available demographic data for cyclist involved collisions, e.g., age, gender, and helmet use of the cyclist. We added this information onto an interactive map that shows these details when a user hovers or clicks the collision point. A few bar charts were added to help\u00c2\u00a0visualize the datasets.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Part of this GIS course involved making tools to analyze and visualize this data. We used ArcGIS to create tools in\u00c2\u00a0Python and ModelBuilder.
